The WND&WVS Marketplace was created to connect buyers and sellers via an independent trusted third party to safely and securely manage transactions. In doing so we've opened up new opportunities for people to get on the water by lowering the barrier of entry through a curated collection of lightly used equipment. As a result, more people are able to participate in the sports we all love while freeing up cash for sellers to reinvest in newer gear.
Why would you want to list an item on the WND&WVS Marketplace? We asked ourselves that very same question before we went down this path. What we learned is that most marketplaces are fraught with fraud. We've all heard stories of buyers on other platforms who get caught in a scam with no recourse and/or inconvenienced by countless meetings with strangers. These platforms can be beneficial in terms of reach, but put the onus on the buyer to on guard for fraudulent activity. The Marketplace uses WND&WVS as a trusted thrid party in the transaction to escrow the purchase and govern the level of satisfaction for both parties. In doing so, the identity of the buyer and seller are protected and communication is delivered via the Markeplace platform until a deal is made.
Sellers receive an email from the Marketplace anytime a potential buyer has a question or comment about their listed item(s). That email directs the seller to a web page within the Marketplace app to respond to the buyer and manage the conversations with other interested parties. Once the seller has finalized the negotiation with the buyer, a link to purchase the item is sent to the buyer allowing them to complete the transaction via the WND&WVS shopping cart.
Once the transaction has been completed, the seller will be responsible for delivery of the item(s) via local delivery or shipping carrier depending on what was discussed during the negotiations. Once the item(s) have been delivered, the good folks at the Marketplace will contact both buyer and seller to confirm that the deal was satisfactory for both parties and distribute the proceeds to the seller minus a small commission to WND&WVS.
Yes, in order to provide this service, we have to charge a small fee to keep the lights on. The Marketplace commission fee is broken down into three (3) tiers - 10%, 15% and 20% depending on the level of service.
- Tier 1 is the complete do-it-yourself (DIY) experience where you as the seller list your item and manage the conversations with buyers on your own.
- Tier 2 is designed for sellers to list their items themselves and host the physical items at the WND&WVS shop so that perspective buyers have a more convenient location to inspect the goods and ask questions.
- The Tier 3 experience is the complete full service experience where sellers deliver their item(s) to WND&WVS and the Marketplace crew lists, sells, and delivers your item(s) to the buyer.
